Our Story
The unique program of improvisation-based performances
Fingerprint is a performing and language arts educational program for children, which has found its home throughout the past 35 years in the venue of school community theatre. It offers development in, not only performance arts, but each of the language arts areas, and so has its place in the classroom as a vehicle for enhancing any subject matter.
Meet The Creator
Cathy Tobia Naylor
Cathy Naylor is the brainchild behind this fantastic program. The skeleton concept of storyline and music are provided using materials from the Fingerprint Productions Drama and Language Arts program conceived and developed by Cathy Naylor has utilized this program to unroll strong youth drama teams everywhere she has taught.
The crux of the program is the use of improvisational story and script development that suit the personalities and talents of the students involved in the production springing forth from 3 or 4 primary musical compositions.
The method of course differs substantially from the standard drama production method of buying a pre-written script and musical segments and fitting the available performers into the storyline..
Instead, students develop their character personalities, habits, idiosyncrasies and most of all, lines and the way in which those lines are delivered giving them far more substantial ownership over the final product.
The Good Fortune to Know Great People As these productions evolved, these beautiful people inspired, brightened, and graced my days and my work. So, I would be remiss if I did not mention them here, before we begin. I want to offer my love and great gratitude to my family: * First, the two precious people, who I have been honored to call my parents,Tom and Amy Tobia; * My constant joy and support... my son, Alex Naylor, who has had his heart and hand in every stage performance I've produced; * And the two great loves of his life, his wife, Tyler, and their daughter, Evelyn. Each day, these people fill me to the brim with their light! And since I would never have had these years of performing arts endeavors had it not been for him, I want to thank the gentleman and artist responsible for the arrangements and production of almost every song I've written. Glenn Longacre is a major, musical talent, with a heart and humility that is just as large. He is a kind, creative giant, with the technical expertise to bring it all to fruition. So, it only makes sense that he would be the one to so inventively package 3 decades of work into this website. I am so thankful for his friendship, time, and talents, and for his own unique fingerprint, which he has left here on my behalf, in order that I may share this project with you!
